Time for a Change?

Where the heck did the past four months go? As we come to the end of April (and the end of the semester), I can't help but feel that change is in order for my life. And nothing even totally drastic- just simple things.

For example, I've been throwing around the idea to change my blog name/URL for a while now, but I can't think of anything that doesn't sound ridiculous. I want something simple, I even thought of going back to just using my name like I do on every social media platform that I use, but I feel like a blog name should be creative.

It's the little things like that that can make a person feel refreshed in the weirdest way. It kind of just lifts your spirits and you feel more productive in life.

But then there's changes on a bigger scale, like your academics. Being a theatre major, I'm only given so many options in career choices. Granted, there are a lot of specific jobs (doing design work, stage managing, acting), but they're very hard to find even when you know where to look for them. Theatre is a SUPER competitive field. I'd always been toying with the idea of declaring a minor, and I always wanted to do psych. But when I really thought about it, a minor in communications would be perfect because there are a lot of theatre people who studied communications in their undergrad problems. So I think that this summer between semesters, I'm officially declaring a communications minor to accompany my Theatre major. (Hooray!)

Happy Spring, lovelies!

Hi, Hello, I'm back!

Me (Amy Lee), Meg (Elizabeth), and TopKnot [Kaitlyn] (Hattie) in Laundry & Bourbon.

Hello everyone!

I apologize for being a-wall recently. Things have gotten hectic with school, the current show I'm in, and interviewing for a second job to help pay for my apartment.

But tonight was opening night for the show and I decided to blog to help come down off my post-show adrenaline instead of running a mile through the basement of our theatre building.

The stress has been piling up because this upcoming week is the last week of classes for the Spring semester, and so that means finals are right around the corner. That means it's time for an 8-10 page Dramatic Lit research paper, a final scene presentation for my acting class, and a final project for my Lit class (which instead of the research paper that my prof. originally planned, he's having us write a monologue in the perspective of one character from a short story we read; hello! I'm an actor. Monologues are my forte).

I'm just glad that two weeks from now and I'll be free of classes (except for the online meteorology class in taking, but you know what I mean), and I can FINALLY get back to normal blogging. Expect a new Friday Faves next week!

Weekend Recap

Happy Wednesday, beautiful readers. I realize this is a little late, but I actually never remember what day it is. It feels like a Monday even though I know it's Wednesday. This weekend has been a little bit emotionally draining, which is a bummer because I had a very productive weekend.

FRIDAY

As usual, it was a theatre dept. shindig at the apartment down the street, and this week was a theme. We had an ABC (anything but clothes) party, and I was rocking a pretty BA garbage bag dress. I like Fridays at their apartment because its the time of the week where we can all just chill and de-stress.

| SATURDAY |

I was actually hoping that I would have to work my primary job, but they didn't use my call in, so I was actually super bummed. But I was super excited to have another movie night at my friend Becca's house, which really was just a whole night of casual drinking, watching Frozen for the 1 thousandth time, and playing Heads Up (best game ever).

SUNDAY

I ended up getting called off from my rehearsal that I was supposed to have because they were working on a scene that didn't involve me, and I used this to my advantage. Sunday was super productive because I decided to start on my theatre portfolio. It's basically just a physical copy of my already existing acting/tech resume. So I headed to my local Walmart (because unfortunately it's closer than the closest Target), picked up some new tabs for my binder, picked up coffee from Starbucks and got to work.

Also, just a side note, you haven't listened to this song yet:

then you're REAAALLYYYY missing out <3

Retail Brand vs. Drugstore Brand Mascara

There are some people who swear by the expensive, big-name brands of make up like MAC or Two-Face or Dior, and there are some people who are just as happy with the brands that you can pick up at your local drug store. I'm right there in between.

I have two favorite mascaras- one is cheaper, and one is more expensive.

Most of the time I use both of them together, the MAC first, then the clump crusher on top of it. The MAC has two options. If you use the pink lid only, it's a lengthening wand, but if you use the purple lid, it's a thickening wand. The Covergirl is nice because it's a volumizing mascara who's wand does a fantastic job of spreading your lashes out. It's one of the best volumizing mascaras i've ever used.  I usually use the purple wand first to get a good coat on my lashes, and I use the CG to even out the MAC because it's an extremely thick formula. Or some days when I'm not doing my makeup full out, I just use the CG by itself because it does a really good job on it's own.

Friday Faves- The Return!

I've finally had the time to make a list and make a new polyvore set for friday, and it made me happier than it should have. It's the sense of getting back into the rhythm that makes me feel better about myself.

1
I love these bottles (and the Brita ones) because you don't waste as many plastic water bottles throughout the day (which I am TOTALLY guilty of), especially on campus where I don't trust the town water (only because I've lived here all my life). So with these bottles they have a filter in the mouth piece so you always get clean water!

2
This is the case that I bought for my phone the minute I got off the phone with the Verizon customer service line because I'd known that I wanted the case for a long time. I love it because it almost has the look of a bumper, but it protects your phone like a normal case because it has a piece of clear, sturdy plastic in the back of it (which shows off the beauty of my space gray 5S)

3
I'm not even referring to a specific umbrella (even though I wish I had this adorable Lilly one), I just mean umbrellas in general. It's officially spring time, which means non-stop rain here in Western PA. It's only smart to have an umbrella on hand at all times.

4
I don't have a pair of Hunters (even though I'm drooling over the pair in the picture/link), but I have a pretty reliable pair of rain boots that are NYC themed (which helps me pretend that I'm walking the streets of the City in the rain). Just like the umbrella, don't go to college in PA without a good pair of boots.

5
Calvin Klein performance jacket
I don't have a picture (yet, keep a lookout on my instagram) nor can I find a link because it may be an old style, but my ex-boyfriend's mom sent me a CK performance jacket in the mail for my birthday. I'm actually in love with it because it's a little lighter than my north face, but at the same time it keeps me just as warm. It's a pretty blue fleece, with two normal zippered pockets outside and two "pockets" inside to for your phone, and even has  a pocket to keep your headphones safe. I had to quote the word pockets because it's actually an open flap that I know for a fact wouldn't keep anything safe. So i took the liberty of sewing the pockets down so they actually fill their purpose.

Birthday Weekend Recap!

So, I'm literally not exaggerating when I say that I had the best birthday every this year.

Friday night (the night before my birthday), we had a small performance at school for my University's 125th anniversary. We were having an "Evening of the Arts" that was put on by all the arts (performing and visual) departments on campus. Then a bunch of us decided to hang out at the apartment that we usually hang out at (which has claimed the name of The Haus). Then at midnight, they turned off the music and everyone sang happy birthday to me. But I literally almost cried because I was with some of the best people in my life and I was so overwhelmed with love. It was probably the most chill night there ever though, which made it 10x better.

These two girls have made my life so much better in the last couple semesters that I've known them. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Then Saturday I went out and got my big girl license (no more Under 21 bar on it) and went out to dinner with my parents where I got my first legal drink. I was literally so excited, and of course I had to get sangria. What else do you get on your 21st at Applebees?

Saturday night was super, super chill and I had a movie night with a bunch of friends at my friend Becca's apartment (the blonde one). We watched some of the best movies (Frozen, Wedding Crashers, Mean Girls) and had pizza and beer and it was probably the perfect ending to the best birthday EVER.

Sunday was back to normal though since I had an afternoon rehearsal for the current show that I'm in.

I'm already feeling the stress that is Spring Semester though and I didn't realize it until today when I was talking to a friend about being overwhelmed about things. Here's to a more relaxing rest of the semester!
